The first two floors of this three-storey building, which was given a full interior makeover, are used as a music school; the third floor is home to an art department. The complex shares a hall with Tabasalu Upper Secondary School. Changes to the layout of the building were primarily made on the 1st and 2nd floors, with partition walls being added and classrooms being divided in two. The keywords in the finishing were the lines on sheet music and the recognisable sense of music they engender, replicated in striped patterns. An eye-catching element on both the 1st and 2nd floors is a wall of greenery with timber detailing and special lighting, which has a calming effect while guiding students into the main corridor and classrooms.
The corridors leading from the foyer to the classrooms were designed as an intermediate space where students waiting for lessons to start could pass the time either studying or relaxing, with soft seating ‘nests’ envisaged for the corridors. The hall on the 2nd floor constitutes a multi-purpose space with various sitting areas in which to relax and chat, hold lectures or organise film nights. There is now also direct access from the 2nd floor to the hall, which is shared with the rest of the school. There is restored flooring in the hall, and acoustic wall panels and ceiling elements have been added to ensure better acoustics.
