This two-storey building follows the slope of the property down to Tondi Street, taking two one-metre \u2018steps\u2019 in the process so as to preserve a uniform two-storey height throughout the building.<\/p>\n
The load-bearing structure comprises concrete blocks and hollow reinforced-concrete panels. The facade features orange lamellar brickwork, which resonates with the historical army barracks adjacent to the building. The dark grey plasterwork facade facing onto Tondi Street plays along with the materials used for the neighbouring office building.<\/p>\n
To open up the guest rooms in the hostel and to maximise the amount of natural light, tall windows in French balcony style were planned for the building. The guest rooms on the 2nd floor on the western side of the hostel open up to spacious balconies which form a harmonious motif on the facade. The guest rooms on the 1st floor on the same side of the building were provided with terraces to create a friendlier, safer and more open atmosphere for the area around the hostel and to offer guests a better experience.<\/p>\n
